From the academic year 2014/2015, the Centre of Basic Procedures in Healthcare (Centre of BPH) is a new department of the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry UP in Olomouc. It is focused on professional medical skills teaching in terms of specialized classrooms together with the Centre of simulators, telemedicine and practical skills (CENTESIMO).
Educational facilities and their equipment, including the concept of seminars and practical skills correspond to the priority of the faculty – to teach students to practical skills so they are able to perform them with maximum degree of accuracy, dexterity and responsibility.
Students of the 2nd year of General Medicine program participate in seminars and practical trainings in the Centre of BPH. Simulators that accurately copy parts of human body are used to the practical training. Students learn to perform basic healthcare procedures at first on models in the classroom and after that they go through practical training in medical facilities.
